Let me start by saying that I am glad that the roster refresh issue is being addressed. However, I have some problems with how this is being handled especially in light of how previous "exploits" were handled.
For months certain guilds have used alts to gain coins faster than intended so that they could increase the amount of rewards their main accounts received. While this has now been addressed, the fact remains that this unintended use of game mechanics was tolerated for an extended period and engendered no punishment. These same guilds are now the only ones who can finish Heroic AAT without the use of mercs and inter-guild coordination.
When I read the new rules for hopping I assumed that they were intended to encourage inter-guild cooperation. They seemed specifically designed to allow stronger guilds to assist weaker ones. The rewards for doing so would be capped but there would be no down side to these altruistic actions. In the course of trying to help others a number of players discovered another unintended mechanic. But this mechanic has been designated an exploit and severe punishment is being threatened not only for those who continue to use it, but for those who were less cautious than I and took advantage of it when the opportunity presented itself.
Now it seems clear that the intention is to prevent any inter-guild assistance so that all must sink or swim on their own. This combined with the severe jump in difficulty from the Pit to AAT is tearing guilds apart. I know of several alliances that have undergone massive reorganizations. Pulling all the top players from several allied guilds into one central guild so the top players have a shot at clearing Heroic AAT. If the rules were left unchanged so that the central guild could help their allies then there would be no cause for complaint. Based on this post though there will soon be no way to do that and those players who are not already considered to be top-tier will only see the gap widen.
You're mistaken, the reason the guilds that can clear heroic AAT are doing so is not because of guild hopping. The reason we can clear is because other guilds chose to not aim for the strongest collection of players possible, and insteadily mistakenly invited weaker players as "coin donors" to do 600/600 and occupy the lower payout ranks, since Rancor is so easily beatable.
Oops! I guess many guilds failed to plan for a tough raid, and figured it would be Rancor 1.5x or something, IDK.
Really the hopping was cool, but after a while the non-farmable raid gear really does pile up, and OG Han shards just feed the shop, so it quickly becomes diminishing returns.
