I think its just the difference between 2 different mentalities. Those who see the value in slow and rewarding progression, and those who want instant gratification. Even if the farm for these characters was cut to 3 months, it still wouldn't be enough for those types of people.
It honestly wouldn't affect me in the slightest, as I have all the ones I want out of that list starred already.
I just don't get the "I had to do it this way. So everyone who ever wants to do it, must do it the same exact way" mentality. It seems naive to me, when considering the nature of a constantly evolving game.
