Me too, HRSoldier is the hardest character to farm in the whole game.
I agreed he's definitely a hard farm, but at least you have a shot - however remote - to pick up shards for him in bronziums.
fotp and FOST are abysmal farms with no chance of anywhere else to get their shards unless you see them in the shop for crystals or in the sporadic events that offer FO toon shards.
Baze and nihilus are awful too, if you weren't fortunate enough to unlock them at a high star level or get them while in the shard shop. Shards for crystals are too rich for my blood so that's not even an option.
