Dark Side Territory Battles : A positive Review (explained)
Hello guys,
I have chosen to be the voice of another line of thinking about ds tb, and post it here for everyone (and hopefully CG team as well).
It is meant to open the dialogue, and engage in friendly discussions, with a different starting point of view than most currently have.
So, I have been giving a lot of thoughts about this new ds tb, and i gotta say, I actually think this ds tb is very enjoyable as it is.
furthermore, i feel like it is properly balanced !
I'll go even further and say this is what ls tb should have been also. This is what tb was meant to be all along (in my head).
Let me explain (long-kitten post incoming, i advise lazy readers to leave now) :
*each time i will be "affirmative", it is actually me just giving my own opinion*
- tb is end-game content
- HAAT is an earlier end-game content
- to have a successful team in the HAAT, you KNOW it has to be at minimum G10 to work, and better be G11. High dmg teams are all G12.
- To beat the HAAT, you know you need many teams. Players have actually built anywhere between 1 to 6 teams in order to perform better in the HAAT
- So why would you expect a newer (and therefore more advanced) end-game content to be beatable with half-assed G8 teams ? From the get-go (launch of light side tb), i expected us TO HAVE TO gear teams to G12 to be able to score 6/6 on waves. Nothing less would prove a real challenge to most veterans players.
- With more difficult combats, and less points given to earlier waves completed, you actually give a lot of meaning to the combat missions in TB. Actually managing to complete all waves feels rewarding, awesome, and has a real impact on your star count.
You now know that successful combat mission will matter in Star Count, and you don't just need to be in a whale guild to get more stars. It means good players, who demonstrate good gaming skills, who select good teams with appropriate mods, will perform better in tb that retarded ones with simply more gp. (or at least have a chance to equal them :p )
It's AWESOME !
(ok, i m aware that currently, the points awarded for combat missions seems to be lower than intended, so this has to be fixed okc)
- The platoon attack ability : It's a lot weaker than on ls tb.
But seriously, wtk was that straffing run.
you should never have been allowed in the first place to be able to complete 1 to 3 waves on P6 of the highest-endgame content with just one G8 fool with nice speed and abuse of the straffing run event ability !
* the ships's platoon ability only stun and does minor dmg, it doesn't wipe the board.
* the assault battles event also grant event abilities, and they are nowhere this powerfull.
What we got on P2 was actually what straffing run should have looked like.
A nice good additionnal and helpfull ability.
But nothing that make short work of a whole wave of endgame challenging content.
I actually find it funny that we are taking this straffing run in our faces now. Wtk, it’s too powerfull lol, it kills my teams like hot knife to butter ^^
- The fact that P1 also had difficult waves : so what ?
With enough gp, it has 0 impact on your stars count.
Imo, they can keep it as is.
At least, now the earlier combat mission are a good sandbox to test out teams and compositions, and make for a good practice run.
And we have room to improve our tb perf even there !
-> I find it quite nice
All in all, and with the ds rewards being what they are, I find they actually did a very mighty fine job with this content.
It is properly balanced to give a sense of accomplishment, and a goal for end-game players.
Okc, it will take months to tackle this new content.
And that is how it should be.
Otherwise, we will be bored out of it in 2 months, and they’ll have to release even more content. Which means more time investment, meaning more complaints….
Such content should last us some times, and this ds tb does a nice job out of it, just like HAAT did in its time. (not that i was already playing when it was released, i m just repeating what i was told)
I think I can sum it up by saying they did a nice job with this ds tb !
