I don't see them getting rolled back. From CG's perspective that would be dev time wasted and presumably they have worked up some figures about how much money they think DCs will bring in.
I think the best we can hope for is that some of the player feedback and sentiment is acted upon. I believe we are currently in an exhibition phase so who knows.
They scrapped the tournament mode way back because of player feedback. The resources they put into developing something is a sunk cost, they will only look forward on what will bring in the most money going forward. If datacrons will drive the total spending down due to whales leaving or closing their wallets it makes no business sense to keep datacrons. It’s detrimental to their bottom line.
