CG is guilty of completely neglecting their role as developers of a game. They are guilty of neglecting any customer service and I'm fairly certain they are guilty of breaking some laws (selling unfinshed content in events that are bugged from day one to the last day for example). They do not care. They are showing us that the only point of their jobs is profit and their role as developers of a game is something they don't want to do.
The player base is guilty of reinforcing this behavior which keeps the wheel turning.
CG has the upper hand as we are losing money and they are gaining money and this is based of a simple understanding of human behavior:
INTERMITTENT REINFORCEMENT
Intermittent reinforcement is a behavioral psychology concept where rewards are given sometimes, but not every time a behavior occurs.
Because the reward is unpredictable, it often creates stronger and more persistent behavior than consistent rewards.
Common examples include:
- Slot machines: Most pulls lose, but occasional wins keep people playing.
- Loot boxes and gacha games: Most openings provide average rewards, but rare rewards encourage continued spending.
- Social media: Most posts receive ordinary engagement, but occasional viral responses keep users checking.
- Dating and texting: Inconsistent attention can create stronger attachment than predictable attention.
Psychologists have long observed that behaviors reinforced on variable schedules, especially variable-ratio schedules, are among the hardest to extinguish.
In gaming, intermittent reinforcement is frequently used through:
- Random drops
- Critical hits
- Shard farming
- Bonus rewards
- Rare event payouts
- Surprise progression spikes
The key idea is simple:
Predictable rewards create habits.
Unpredictable rewards create persistence.
The uncertainty of “maybe this time” often keeps people engaged longer than guaranteed outcomes.
This is what they feed on. I want everyone to take a moment and realize this Era event they have given you characters that most of you already own at high relic tiers and given you baby version of them while selling you Zeb that has an ability that doesn't work inside of the Coliseum properly but does work in the Era Challange.
I gotta admit they have been smart but they aren't even hiding what they are doing with this Era Event. No body really cares about Kleya Or Zeb. But that Journey Guide character? He must be good and exiciting. They even make you watch him in game for a couple of days and he appears differently the other characters.. But you need the other ones, at 5* level to participate in the event but you can't get those five stars without investing somehow right?if you don't get them to 4 stars you can't gain daily shards during the release of the character so you either have to horde crystals and gamble on shards odds or spend money for that one pack. It's only 5 stars right? Not that much. Now you have to grind every day to make sure not to miss it so you can get those 5 stars and get the journey guide toon. Then the Era ends and mayybe ou succeded but you played with new characters for 3 months in game modes that do not reflect any part of the game, you don't even really know how they will fare in GAC or TW since you couldn't use them for 3 months outside the Era event, something you payed for. This has been repeated 3 times now. Now a new Era event happens and if you want that journey guide to be useful outside the Era event? Now you gotta get them all to relic 6. And you can't get them to relic 6 without having them at 7 stars since they changed it, and the event to get that powerful character isn't open all the time no its open during the next Era event you are playing in and if you miss it, who knows how long it'll take to come around again? And now the datacron you used in between then and now expires and now you have a 5-6-7 star character that is weak because of relic delta and you gotta invest or wait for him to be useful all the while the Next Era event is going on!
I'll emphasize this: we are buying bugged characters that during the Era event cannot be tested, can not be played a 3 star Era character is equally powerful as a 7 star character if the Era level is invested in. You played these characters in a game mode with limited attempts and designed so that the enemies become more powerful as time goes on, stalling any progression without investment. Then over these 3 Eras you are playing these characters without their proper teammates as well right? You didn't know Maul would be soo strong with Stranger? And those that doubled down and got the datacron had a false sense about him because even longer because a datacron made a 5-6 star character insanely strong but that wasn't based off his mechanics. They just tricked fooled you, got you to do the initial inveatment to get him during the Era so now you either push for 7 stars and relic 6 or you can't really use him can you? You can't use him in ROTE or TB because he isn't 7 stars, without a datacron you aren't gonna rely on him versus a relic GL team that has some other datacron and gives them 100% Protection and defense and crit damage and what not. Use him in TW? Your guild mates would probably not like that.
This is done on purpose so either you finish the the investment you started or you accept that you have a character you can't use for the time CG has decided. But we gotta get Rotta right? He is a Hutt! They also included a new character in this Era that has some synergy with Tie Fighter Pilot! (Which hasn't been redone or anything he is crap)
How is this Era event going guys! How is it playing with a mixture of characters you already penalty own at higher relic levels? How is Zeb playing with Scoundrels? How is he with Mon Mothma as he disrupts her kit since he isn't a rebel? Do you all think we can use BAM and take him from Bo Katan, take Drogan from Leia and use Zeb and R5 to kick some butt in GAC or Conquest or TB? Will this be the new meta? Have we found a good team for Cad Bane? Can anyone tell me officially how the loan characters level progress? Is it the same for everyone? You see the found a way to make a little extra money. Don't reward players that invest by having summoned units scale with their weakest Era character or their strongest Era character. No you get loaned characters and tokens that no one seems to fully understand how they work. But you get tokens. Oh and if you buy some of the packs, you can get a couple of extra tokens and get ahead of the others in your shard because we are also gonna change the Era Currency so you can use it to buy more stuff.
Come on guys enough is enough. Not a single Era event has functioned properly. They have sold bugged toons and forced people to invest and as with Andor, they completely screwed up and if you didn't invest in those 7 stars you got no compensation. Every Era has changed somehow but all these changes have something in common: either the changed cause a progression wall for you or it was a new pay wall.
But don't worry by th end of this Era you will have Rotta and an omicron for a short time, until the next Era is introduced. They won't fix the bugs in other characters that will now become obsolete. Order 66 and investigation are now a thing of the past, make way for ISB and undermined! ;)
