Defense Heavy and Special Focused toons

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding game mechanics here. What if we had these two scenarios introduced?

A toon (Ex: Droideka) with insanely high defense that does not depend on health or protection for survivability. Could a toon have a defense so high that standard attacks like Wiggs, Chirrut, etc would feel like a wet noodle?

Additionally, are there any toons with insanely high special attack right now? Does special attack damage factor in enemies' defense? I know DN's basic does ~6k in special damage and I believe EP is similar.

What if high defense toons were released to counter the basic DPS we see in Rebels? I'm not sure how special attack factors in here, but could we release a Jedi or Sith with super high special damage that ignores defense as a counter to the aforementioned? Just brainstorming. Any insight on defense caps or how special damage is related would be helpful.

@Steel_Memes gotcha. So only a specific ability, currently owned by Sidious only, can penetrate top tier defense. Well, perhaps we need more of those "ignore" abilities and stronger toons that render the DPS of Chaze/GK teams useless.

Currently it's a race for me to kill the opposing DN, and then I win easily.

I don't know if it's only Sidious, he's just the first I thought of. There may be more but I can't say. Armour and Resistance penetration are also stats that exist, but you can only view them from swgoh.gg
  • It would be interesting to see a character that does %health/protection damage on their abilities also.

I think Rex has this on his special. It's like 20% of the enemies health + base damage.
  • Yes, Kyle Ren's defense stacks every time he takes damage. Whenever I run my resistance team against him, I can get a whole ton of turns in a row before he moves and those last few will hit for 1-2k on attacks that normally hit for 10-12k

I can attest to that. In my GW run this morning I had hit a Kylo Ren so many times that Rey's 40k special was only doing 800-900 damage by the end. Good thing he never got a turn to hit me.
