Leaving for a while doesnt really handicap a person that much. As soon as the meta shifts, things even out again and those who stay ahead of the curve will prosper the most. For example having cls or jt rey are far more important than a luminara or darth maul that might have been meta at one point. Arena is based on 5 toons, so a 1m gp person can compete with a 3m gp if they have the right toons.
