This is different issue to the iPhone 6 where at least you can upgrade to iOS 12
The problem the iPhone have is then a hardware issue, where newer ios releases might not enable some features as the older hardware does not support.
i don't know of any apps that do not run on my nephews android 4.4, that seems to be the gold standard. no way is this fair, if they were going to raise the requirements this should have notified us when they decided to do so, which is long ago in the development stage.
The reality is the only issue I have with this is the 5 days notice period. I am sure this has been in development consideration for a while, even if the final call was only made in the past few days. It would have been better for them to have given a warning that at some point this year a obsolescence plan would kick in
