There is already a gear wall at g11. Makes no sense to wait until g12 to make g8/9 easier by your logic. If so then at this time g6/7 should be taking a week to reach. Not adjusting drop rates for purple gear with the introduction of gold is slowing the game down too much and leading people to lose interest and quit.
