Amen. Even silly things like Secrets and Shadows, my Phoenix team isn't relic'd (Gear 12) but I could 2* Challenge Tier II for some nice rewards that helped out a lot. Now I get to round 8 facing DN and he trounces my team like a cakewalk all because of Relic Delta. It's such a reductive thing to add to the game. "Oh, you're a few relic levels lower, then you automatically lose". Whereas before with careful planning, good mods, some lucky RNG and you could eke out a win. We may as well be playing Star Wars Top Trumps and relic level is the only stat being played!
I'm like you, spent about 1k over the course of about 8 years playing. The new Era event and all the lag/freezing is annoying enough, but I was willing to battle through it, but Relic Delta is something else completely. It entirely changes the way the game is played, if all we're doing is looking at relic levels to determine who wins and who loses then what is the point of playing at all? I'm never spending on this game again, I simply don't trust CG any more if they're willing to eviscerate the game play like this. There's a poxy mobile game called Pocket Champs I looked at years ago as the ad looked fun (never trust ads!) but that game boiled down to whoever had the highest stat won the race, that's all it was, absolute brain rot game play. And now here we are, with SWGOH adopting the same methodology to their game play. Whoever has the highest relic level, wins. Screw your theory crafting, screw your tactics, screw your counters, screw your team composition; so now, screw this game.
