Explain what "enough time to farm for Thrawn" means please

I am f2p and get top five in arena everyday. I am 20 shards short of 5 star kanaan today. I don't have enough time by the 15th when Thrawn comes for anything close to 6 star. So how is this enough...

I agree Sabine isn't a must have to play the event if it only requires 5 characters ... however, she's definitely a heavy hitter that would make it much easier I would imagine (she's m primary go-to assist toon, along with Ezra whenever I can call one)
