Feature Request: Remove Abandon button from Heroic tier raids

The Raid Abandon button is large, red and shiny and is just begging to be pressed. It is incredibly distracting even to a veteran officer. Abandoned raids count against players' weekly raid tickets. There is absolutely no upside to any heroic capable guild to have Abandoned button, while the potential for royally screwing your guild is gigantic. Please remove the Abandon button from Heroic tier raids.

It's really not though, IIRC it's way on the left side where there's nothing else to push so you can't even blame muscle memory.

    Plus the confirmation needed.

One time I took my phone out of my pocket and the screen said are you sure you want to abandon this raid?

I had already pocket opened and cycled to this point. One more click and it would have been gone. Turns out cellophane activates some phone screens... Good info if u ever wanna cover tracks and hide from the Empire.

So don't put it in your pocket with the screen on, problem solved.
  • While I do agree it's not really something they should spend time on, I also agree there's a much "simpler" fix because it would extend to all the raids (and possibly the TB selection). Someone above mentioned they could make it so a second officer has to confirm the abandonment.

@TVF and others make obviously valid points, but accidental stuff can happen. This week my 7 month old was sitting with me and I was checking in on the game. I'd gotten to the guild screen, and he spit up all over himself and I. In the haste to clean up the infant gift, I had gotten him cleaned up and was attending to myself as I watched him grab my phone, pick it up and start to wrangle it towards his mouth. I got a clean hand and snatched it before he was chomping away.

I looked down at the screen and saw he'd somehow gotten to the guild events screen, and selected Hoth TB and abandoned us from the Geo. ??? Now it was obviously no big deal as we had two days until the start. I just changed it back to Geo easy peasy, but we had an HSTR that had just started, and I couldn't help but be grateful he hadn't gone in and accidentally abandoned that raid.

So while the chances of it are slim, accidents are possible and that slight tweak of needing another officer's approval would solve it. If it were something they had any interest in addressing, which is more than likely little if any.
  • Second officer to confirm would be a good start at least if they dont want to remove the abandon raid button from heroic. Few weeks back we had an officer who accidentally abandoned the heroic sith raid an hour before join phase was over because they'd been drinking most of the day.

Bobcat doesn't live by your rules.
  • While having a second officer confirm Is a nice concept, it's not practical. There are too many moving parts to that that have to be synchronized through the server. It would be much slower (consider how long it takes to accept guild invite), a lot more complicated code-wise, and a lot more prone to error conditions and thus bugs.
We, as a community, already worry about the number bugs constantly introduced and or not fixed in a timely manner.

The original idea multiple orders of magnitude simpler, both conceptually and technologically. But it seems like there are those that don't see it as a problem at all.
I guess they have never had to deal with it.
Having been bitten by it a few times over course of playing this game for a few years, I thought this would have been worth thinking about.

Alas, it is unlikely to happen if this is the community respond. I leave you now with your "more worthy" content of Tier 3 Challenge Assault battles. Now there is a worthwhile use of CG resources.
  • This button is absurd and anyone defending it is just wrong. It's a Do Not Press button in the middle of a highly trafficked screen that does nothing but distribute pain to 50 people at once. Enough is enough. It should go. Now.
