fleet arena - timer between battles

When you attack and have to wait for the "Victory" message you are already attackable. It's during this time they see the leaderboard has changed and you moved up, initiating an attack with you while you're still waiting for the Victory message to go away, load up arena again, refresh, and click on another battle.
It's unfortunate but just how it works. There are ways around it if you're attacking and want to snipe into position. But only do this if you're in contact with the shard chat and they will not let you in and will not afford you a position. It's ALWAYS better to work with people instead of against. But if you really want to get up there, and they offer you no other alternative, initiate a battle some 10-12 minutes before payout. Do not win, but retreat a few minutes in. They will not see the leaderboard change and will need to be constantly spamming you to attack, which is much more difficult to get in that short little window where you retreated, refresh, and go back into battle with that person, with enough time left over to make it to payout.
But let me stress again. If you haven't already, try to get in touch with your shard chat to get in. It's always better for everyone to be able to coordinate. Only snipe up if they offer you no alternative.
