Most average star wars fans don't care at all about things from the EU that are uncanon, and also the rebels TV show. Most people don't want people they have never heard of be at the top of arena teams, and be important parts of the game. People want toons they like. With clone wars its different, because the show has been around and canon for a while, and most people are fine with more generic jedi and clones that are cool. I also even like parts of the EU, like republic commandos, but I don't want to see them in the game, because there is more important and popular stuff
