I was able to 3* all tiers without thrawn. Ep lead, Vader, magmatrooper, tfp, and rg. Get tfp super fast, use aoe on the rounds with deadly ewoks. Basic otherwise. Control the elders. In the final round, aoe to clear deadly. Then kill elder. Aoe again. All done.
In the rounds with just scouts and warriors, target the scouts first. Don't forget about the event special to heal and skip turns.
