To OP and anyone else struggling with overspending and remorse.
This is a vicious cycle.
The first step out of it is to never forget - the feeling. The feeling of regret u experienced after. The feeling and thoughts u had just prior to when u broke down and crossed your own personal line in the sand.
The second step is to forget - the financial damage. Don't hang onto the actual monetary value or number of crystals u wasted. That is spilt milk. You need the mindset that u are not "out" or "down" that number of dollars/crystals. You are exactly even. Everytime u pick up your phone, u are even. You are not ahead. U are not behind. U are exactly where u are supposed to be. Just try to learn to make the best decisions, and execute those decisions. Strive to learn control.
Third, you are not unlucky. You can never be unlucky. You simply happen to be one of many thousands of people that have not been rained on by raid gear. This defines your game. This is the hand u are dealt, and all u can do is play it or quit.
Fourthly, u are not ahead nor behind anyone else on your server. You are all exactly where u are supposed to be. There is supposed to be a bell curve distribution of gears. There are supposed to be people ahead and behind at any given time. All that matters is what u do with it.
This is in some respects a role playing game. An escape. Some people are born in India of parents without two rupees to rub together. Some people are born the sole heir of a billion dollar fortune. You do not choose. You play the hand you are dealt.
Your story is over when u choose it to be. Maybe u quit. Maybe u feel like u can only lose. Maybe be u correctly realize u simply cannot enjoy the game unless u happen to be one of the lucky guys at the top of the bell curve. This is a game u can opt out of. So do it. But know there are some other people out there who will thrive with the hand u have been dealt. They will persevere because they enjoy that role. They have long term goals and are not swayed by their relative start point or short term bad luck.
It is never too late to make a new start. And it is never too late to quit. You are exactly where u are supposed to be. The rest is up to you.
