Anyone use to play World of Warriors? The old tower mode in that was essentially a GW. 5 levels, increasingly hard and facing teams of randomly selected toons.
Way more fun than GW because you got to fight every toon in the game. Make it so at least 2-3 toons have some kind of synergy and voila, hundreds of brand new, random teams to fight.
For the record, I complete GW every day. I have a plenty deep bench but hey, it gets dull mashing the same squads into the dirt again and again. Variety is the spice of life.
That is when you make variety by using a different squad to smash the AI.
Ok, fair point. I have 14 max/near max toons with which I mix and match in GW.
For me to make different squads, as you suggest, involves a huge amount of time and effort to farm, gear and level new toons. Which toons will I normally choose? The ones I know are pretty powerful. How do I know they're powerful? Because I fight them every day in arena and GW.
Now, making GW random opposing teams is a lot more entertaining for the player at way less time investment BUT it also then exposes players to new possibilities they haven't thought about. An Ewok team for example, how many players would suddenly realise it's viable and then put that investment into getting one for themselves? It's a win-win. Further exposure to the forgotten 60% of toons only means people will spend more time and money in then trying to acquire them. More diversity = more fun. People having more fun generally means more $$$.
