You only get charged once, it just feels like twice as you lose the previous days attempts.
You walk into a bar just before midnight where you get five free drinks per day. You order your drink before midnight the barman pours your drink but by the time he is finished and puts it through the till it is after midnight. The free drink comes from the new day and as you did not use them in time the previous days are lost.
