GL questions for returning player
Can anyone link a dev thread, or some good info, as to understanding the basics of this GL stuff? I was away from the game about three years, and while it's simple enough to look over the prereq list...

The first step in unlocking a GL is getting all of the pre-requisites. This is a combination of characters (Relic’d) and ship(s). Some of these characters will have synergy with the GL (SLKR and the FO for example), whereas others were part of the backstory behind the GL in some way (GG and Jedi Master Kenobi).
Once you have all of the pre-requisites, you get access to Light Side or Dark Side currency. (A new currency). Access is based on the GL you are trying to unlock. You earn this currency doing light side or dark side battles. This currency is used to do the GL battles to get the GL shards. There are 3 different battles, and you do each 3-8 times.
Once you complete those battles and unlock the 7* GL, you need to gear them. You won’t have access to their Ultimate ability yet, you need to unlock that.
The Ultimate requires a couple more battles (with useless rewards) and then 10x the Ultimate battle. Once you complete the last Battle (Tier) 10x, you unlock the Ultimate and the GL is complete.
If you do 3x 50 energy refreshes per day, getting the GL shards and unlocking the Ultimate takes about 3-4 weeks from when you get all the requirements.
