It's about money. Google approached them and asked if they were willing to team up with a promotion that one, gets people spending money on their game and two gets people to buy Google Play cards. EA said ABSOLUTELY.
Now they may or may not have reached out to Apple who, if EA did, responded with no we don't care about our users.
