Grand Arena design is mad

The majority of all my recent opponents not only are 2 million GP higher, but each one has four Galactic Legends while I have one. Matchmaking is entirely illogical now. I cannot possibly win, no chance.  I quit for two years, come back and it's worse than before.  Cannot take this game seriously at all.

  • Yeah, Grand Arena may need reevaluated. I’m in a similar boat, no GLs, fighting accounts with 2-4 GLs in Carbonite. I have 1 character to relic levels, and most of my GAC opponents have 20+ reliced. Now, this is my fault (only having 1 reliced character) because I’ve focused on more expensive toons kryotech wise, but it is still irritating to fight accounts that the only chance you have is hoping they don’t login to play the GAC.

My hunch is that you may not.  There are 2 scenarios here.

    1.  You are doing well and move up, and the average player is more developed than you.  Well now you don't win 90% of your games and have found your rung on the ladder.  Congratulations, yet more rewards, but win half-ish of your matches now.    The OP wrote

Well, probably that's not true.  They just lost a couple and doom and gloom sets in.  I think most of us feel pretty negative if we lose a few in a row.  Either, they will win roughly half or they'll fall a bit where they can.  Eventually, you'll find your place.

    2.  Is your scenario 09thearchivist.   Again, you'll win roughly half your matches (probably more as you move out of Carbonite.  However, the issue for you is your gaming experience.   Basically, against these larger account, 'if they play, you lose.  If they don't play, you win'.  And that shouldn't be happening.  Games should be competitive.

A rule does need to be put in place to prevent larger accounts that don't (or rarely) play polluting lower leagues.  Something like, each division will have an average GP.  Players that are significantly larger than that average GP get groups vs each other; allowing the division to work at the power level intended.

What we don't want is to go back to GP match making.  Yes, the better players win a lot more, but 1.  That's not great for the casuals.   2.  With GP match making we get min-maxing and that would be awful for a collectible game.  #I'm winning every single game at 5.499 millions, I'm not going to add a single gp to my account types.

  • People drop down to lower levels because they probably find GAC boring, repetitive and frustrating. At higher levels you still get matched against bigger accounts, face the same defence week in and week out, have datacrons that severely limit your counters and then get screwed over by RNG.

  • That's because CG hasn't done anything to update GAC in at least 3 years.  GAC and TW are low priority for CG, their main concern and focus is new players.  So, if you started a whole new account, you'd probably feel pretty happy and welcome.  lol

Re lost a couple: 5 out of 6 losses in the last two tournaments. No, the numbers say I will lose, nothing else. I cannot beat 4 GLs, period.

  • I still enjoy the game mode, and depending on the match, can have fun competitively. The match matching makes life hard sometimes.
