Grand Arena Matchups
When players received GP to give a value to their inventory strength, some players, like me, maxed out all of their characters' levels, gear levels, and mods. The increased GP gave players better rew...

Get ready for a wave of comments about how GA matchups are fair and nothing needs to change, get gud, you shouldn’t have wasted resources on fluff, and how this matchmaking is nothing new since TW using the same thing.
But seriously, if you want to stop the bleeding, just don’t activate new characters or ships until absolutely needed. Don’t Star up toons or ships until needed. And remove mods from characters you don’t use in GA (assuming you don’t use them elsewhere too). Ships are a huge hit right now...just activating a 5* palpmobile was 40k power for me.
So true. I thought the same thing as I wrote it. It has just been so long that this has been going on, and I want to play the grand arena. I am stuck. The only thing I can do is to remove mods, but then I have to sell a bunch of them, and how much of a difference will it really make? The players who benefit from the current method of matchups will be the players who write to state that it is good just the way it is.
I know of at least one player, who comments that the current match-up is fine and accepts the match-up even when he's outmatched.
Newer players, don't work on any character you won't use. Don't increase your GP where it isn't necessary. Developers, please fix this!
Please refer to the recent road-ahead post that describes tiered GAs based on previous performance. I assume rewards will be tiered to, so that match-making will probably be fair just like the current one.
Matchups should use three variables to determine fair matchups; GP, number of zetas, and g12 characters. There are other ways to determine matchups, but in my opinion, those three categories will help to match fair opponents.
No, it won't. It will create (more) even matches, but as long as we all compete for the exact same rewards, it wouldn't fair. Even and fair are two different things.
I did nothing wrong by leveling up my characters and their gear levels, so a player like me should not be at a disadvantage in the game.
You did nothing wrong. Agreed. But your choices in the past should of course influence your current ability to win GA. It's no different than guilds who didn't build JTR teams and NS teams. They are at a disadvantage in heroic STR. It's no different than guilds that din't build counters to JKR, DRevan or similar teams. They are at a disadvantage in TW. I see no problem here.
It was way too late to “course correct”. I am sorry that you are unable to see the problem. If you were capable of understanding the situation explained, you would see a problem. Unfortunately, when something isn’t happening to some people, they are unable to see it for themselves. Grand arena match ups are very different from guilds that didn’t build counters to JKR, etc. They can still build counters as the game progresses. We have no control to combat these horrible match ups. Today, my son got matched against a player with 24 g12 toons and a ton of 6 Dot mods. He has zero g12 toons. His opponent also has 33% more zeta moves. The difference, my son works on all of his toons. His opponent left most of his toons untouched. He can’t play at all. That is a problem.
False. Your son mismanaged his resources and is being outmatched by players who are better at strategy. The system is not broken. No one told you to gear up those tokens (or whoever) to g8 then move on to the next.
I am currently matched against a player with 400k less GP than me and at least 30 toons sitting at lvl 1 and 65! At gear 12. I do not have that lean of a roster, but through careful strategy I still have a chance of winning.
There is nothing wrong with matchmaking, players who plan better get better rewards the end.
