I find it EXTREMELY frustrating that it's so ridiculously hard to acquire these things! I just started playing again after a 7 year hiatus, and, for me, this makes the game much less fun.
I have over 500 of the red MK 3 and over 600 of the blue MK 2, but a whopping 11 green MK 1... Everything gives blue or red, but very skimpy on the green. So annoying
We should be able to sell more stuff. I would LOVE to sell some MK 3 Ability Material and be able to buy more MK 1

OP, just keep playing the game. You are clearly a new player, because no one with an account that's even a few months old or a new alt would be complaining about the basic ability materials. In a few weeks you will stop even noticing any ability material below omegas. In a year, you will stop noticing omegas, too.
I have 66 thousand of mk1. Ability materials stop being a bottleneck very quickly. SWGOH is a game played over years. You can't expect to have everything in the first few weeks.
I understand that. I have 35+ characters that are 7 stars and at least ability level 5. However, when trying to build up newly acquired characters, it's frustrating to not have ANY of the most basic materials. They don't spawn as often as the others. Slows everything down to a crawl
On a side note, you're really calling that "red?"

Actually... im on a 1.5 year old account and in the same position. It seems like at some point they started requiring mk1 for every level of the ability tree, but in my old account I never remember having that issue. I have 800 mk2, 1100 mk3, and 9 mk1... im at 4.7 mil gp

Clearly, you didn't read my post. My account is 10 years old. I was one of the very original players. Way before ships or relics, or mods. I have been playing again for 5 or 6 months and still having issues with this. You need MK1 for EVERYTHING. I don't need all these MK3
I think they read your post just fine. You never mentioned account age. But it's irrelevant here. If you have that little of these materials, then you clearly took a many year break. Your account is no different from one that has been playing for only the 5 or 6 months then. A ten year-old account should have tens of thousands of reach of these things.
So the poster's advice still stands: Keep playing.
