Guild Exploit Fix

Hey All,

As many of you know, some of the top guilds are using guild switching to participate in far more Raids than should be possible if its members all stayed part of one Guild. With our TU5.1 update we attempted to stop this exploit by making players that switched guilds ineligible for Raid rewards for a 2 day period. Unfortunately this change was not successful in removing the exploit and players are still participating in Guild Switching.

With our 6.1 update, we are going to remove the ineligibility for Raid rewards when switching guilds and introduce a new change that we believe will remove the exploit. We would really appreciate your feedback on if there is anything we are missing that will continue to allow the exploit.

Description:
The maximum Guild Bank Coins that a Guild can earn per day is 30k (210k in a week). We will be tracking individual player participation in each Raid, retaining the summon cost for each Raid participated in, and stop providing Raid rewards to the player after he/she has participated in Raids that exceed the limit of 210k per week to summon.

Use Case:

  • Player participates in 3 seperate Rancor Heroic raids within a week. Each Raid costs 60K to summon so on the backend we’ll record that the player has participated in Raids that cost a total of 180K GBC for the week.
  • When the player is about to participate in a 4th Raid he views Rancor Tier 1 and nothing has changed as the Tier 1 Raid only costs 30k so the player would be eligible to earn Raid rewards from it as he has participated in Raids costing 180k and has a limit of 210k)
  • He then views Rancor Tiers 2 to Heroic and is presented with a message above the summon/battle button that says "Eligible for Rewards In: ”. This is due to the cost of these Tiers putting the player over the limit of 210k.

    • Additional details will be available in an info button

  • The player participates in a 4th Heroic Rancor Raid (which is only possible through Guild Switching). He is able to participate but can see that he will not receive Raid rewards from the Raid.

    • If the week crosses the threshold the Raid will still not provide rewards to the player

  • Week 2 begins and the players remaining 30k is added to a new 210k for a total of 240k (the fourth Raid didn’t count as he wasn’t eligible for Raid Rewards)
  • The player can now participate in 4 Heroic Rancor Raids in week 2 (60k x 4 = 240k).
  • Note that only one week will be rolled over so the maximum cumulative cost of summoned Raids that a player can participate in during a week is 420k. This is also the amount we will set for all players when we initially roll out the feature to avoid any situation where that player can not participate in a Raid that the one guild had enough currency to summon. For example if the Guild had 150k currency when we rolled out this change, they will be able to earn rewards from Raids summoned with that currency plus the up to 210k additional currency that could be earned during the week.

I think this needs a little more explaining in the update notes. There is nothing about the carryover or what day the reset occurs.
    • Why remove the 48 hours reward when u switch guild? Should have been kept as another protection?

Yeah agree, guys are now jumping left and right to help finish heroic raids.
    • What happens if a raid is not finished? Does cost count toward the cap still? What about if you leave the guild before the raid completes?
    • Hey All,

I'm getting some details on what we're going to be doing about the recent happenings with the Tank Takedown Raid. As soon as I confirm what we're doing I'll share it on the forums.

So is the carryover actually happening or are the people getting the exceeded limits warning doing something wrong? If it is working can the carryover info be shared with the entire community?
