It's really not about unlocking Han Solo first. It's about exploiting the system to increase the haul of unobtainable gear exponentially.
1) It takes an incredible amount of time and coordination to accomplish this.
2) Nothing is stopping you from doing exactly the same.
Personally, I don't guild hop. I barely have enough time as it is for this game.
But if someone wants to put the time and effort into running their toon multiple times through a raid, constantly having to be added and removed from guilds.....well, I don't see why they shouldn't be rewarded for their time and effort. If CG decides they want to put a stop to this, they will. However, presently they seem to be OK with it, although of course that could change in the future based on what they see.
I honestly don't think it's that much of an effort or planning. The top guilds finish raids in 30 minutes, they can save enough coins to do two in one day. You do two raids in one guild, hop on to the next and do another two raids.
The only thing you need are 4 guilds with enough 7* to complete heroic quickly.
