Had an idea where players can place a character in a training slot and the guild members can help upgrade gear and level. This would help guilds get stronger and allow long time players to help out newbies. Rewards could be given back to the players upgrading the gear.

They absolutely would. Plus, the devs want new players to grow their own rosters, not be given a leg up be more established players.
Well we already have that in gear donations- its specifically designed that it's only gear that really helps new players. Players get rewards from achievements. For obvious reasons CG won't go beyond that.
The obvious reason is that burner guilds and multiple accounts could be created to feed main accounts by dropping in and out the main account to the burner area.
Is that what a guild does?
Just a grouping of people who donate gear, chat, and do raids and wars just to get shards/credits?

I don’t understand what point you’re making here.
We already know from years ago some users will go to extraordinary lengths to give some new accounts (usually second accounts for someone already in the guild) a massive head start in the game. If this idea were implemented, it would 100% definitely be exploited by some.
And, given how many 13M+ accounts have already taken every farmable character to relic level and are sitting on a mountain of unneeded gear, an account could massively improve their inventory very quickly in the right guild with the right friends.
