How exactly do you get Zeta materials?

I see everyone saying, " The counter to blah blah is to zeta Maul" or "omg Barriss Zeta is so OP" and it seems like everyone has zeta'd characters. I must be missing something because last time I chec...

I went for ships until i unlocked tier 3 ability mats. Now i still farm ships and vader shards :) i rank top 10 in ship arena but have dropped out of top 10 arena. Top arena has 2 characters zeta d already..
