I get it --

From where I sit, enough with the hype, enough with the cryptic remarks, enough with the cutesy teaser memes... just...enough already. Give us a firm timeline on when the event begins/ends and I don't think it's asking too much for you to give us enough lead time on the needed toons for the CLS event. This is Groundhog/Thrawn day all over again, one would think lessons were learned. FWIW, I have just about all the toons ready to roll (Luke still at 6*, can reasonably get him to 7* on time) but I'm empathizing here with people who are bringing up quite valid misgivings.

The best comment I've read for now...
"if you can't unlock Commander Luke Skywalker, then you don't deserve him!"

I cannot stand behind that. That is coming straight from the mouths of the "I can get him, so everyone else needs to stop complaining" people. Anyone who was smart with their farming or didnt start off playing this game in 2015 didnt have Luke or Old Ben ready. Ewoks were fun, whatever, but this is just terrible communication on their part when it comes to parts of the game that actually matter. And I know for a fact my opinion on this does not stand alone.

  • I can see your point it is frustrating when you cannot unlock a new toons with going down a path you don't want.

I just want to disagree on 1 point, this is nothing like thrawn. These characters have been in game for a long time and many people who may or may not get him are 1 or maybe 2 toons they can't make.

IMO, the "rush farm" even for Thrawn was ok, but I understand that is just my opinion. Here it wasn't so much a rush farm for me as I have been playing long enough to only need to finish half of OB.

We all feel your pain, thrawn was the first legendary I got the first time around. We never got any clear picture before on who to farm for when, so I don't expect much change.

Why should we get a firm event time line ? its more fun when it random... even though it means more complaining beeches on the forum

Oh I don't know, maybe because not all of us are tethered to our phones around the clock? Or maybe because July/August is peak vacation time for a lot of families and we'd rather do fun stuff with our kids that doesn't involve having to revolve activities around some event on our smart phones/tablets? But yeah, you're right, firm event timelines blow... let's just have the Super Bowl whenever and make MLB/NHL/NBA postseason series' not necessarily Best of 7, just whatever the people who govern said leagues feel like doing that week.

You call having to log in once in a time span of 7 days being "tethered to your phone around the clock"?
If i missed the event because i was on vacation with my family it would have kittened, but i would take solice in the fact that i had more fun on vacation than i probably would ever have playing a mobile game.

not my point at all; it would just be nice to have even a rough idea on when the event begins (I think what's most curious is how the login character item led many to believe the event would begin at the end of the month/early next month, which would have made more sense.)

and if you're short 1-2 toons and in panic farm mode, we're talking about more than simply logging in once in 7 days.
  • *addendum

I obviously won't have any way of knowing one way or the other but my guess is: the original plan *was* to roll out the Luke event early next month; but they kitten the bed on TB (which IMO is still really far off, was supposed to debut this month), and someone from on high greenlighted the Luke event instead of sandbagging an already bored player base for another month.
  • Luke was announced for August months ago and it was hinted that a new hope characters would be needed. I took as my cue to farm the ones I didn't have though as I knew I would have time I didn't go all in on them and now only need 20 Old Ben shards which I should get this weekend.

I have also been slowly farming Hoth characters as they may be good for territory battles. You don't need to go all in until it is confirmed they are needed and they are worth getting but it's smart to make a start on anyone who looks like they may be needed for something so you aren't running around like a headless chicken at the last second to fall short.

IMHO, the event started when we were all given Luke shards to unlock 2 months ago. Should've been farming the main characters from ANH since then of you didn't already have them.

    Edit: typo.

Except that a lot of the player base doesn't read the forum. They don't see the hints and memes.

And those who do read the forum have still had to farm phoenix squad for Thrawn, empire for R2, improve their existing raid teams, and so on and so on. We've been pulled in so many directions that we know we need to go in that arbitrarily going in a different direction on the speculation that you might need this character for an event that should be taking place maybe in three or four months is really kind of absurd if you think about it.

As soon as they gave us Luke for the anniversary I started farming him and got him to 7* within a month because they said I'd need him. I've been farming Old Ben since they said we'd need him--not some vague cryptic hint, not player speculation (sure, players were right about this, but just look at the sheer number of things y'all have been wrong about and tell me scepticism doesn't make sense)--and I'm at 30/65 to 5*. I did the math and saw that if this event lasted two weeks I could probably get him to 7* with the pack, but now why bother?

I'm not quitting. I'm not throwing a tantrum. I'm not demanding anything of the developers. I'll get him next time and that's fine with me.

What I'm doing is registering my discontent with how this event was handled. At least with Phoenix Squad we had a decent heads up and got enough time to farm. I didn't get Thrawn, either, but I don't mind because they--in my opinion--handled that event well. They added double drops, they put characters in the shard shop, I think there was a pack available (I didn't buy one, so I don't recall, but I definitely remember having to scroll a long way to get to my bronzium packs). They did none of that for this event and I think that's a bad idea so I'm telling them. Now get off my case for saying I'm just whining--people are allowed to be disappointed.

Pretty much. Forum full of broken clocks who are wrong 23h58m a day, then think they're entitled to go "I told you so I told you so" because of the two minutes a day that they're right.
