If you are competitive at GAC then you likely use SWGOH.gg GAC history of opponents. You also analyze their rosters and mod speeds. There are typically no surprises in GAC if you are doing your homework, and opponents don't really have the ability to surprise you. RNG surprises me a lot more than my opponents.
But you are talking about average players, those who are too lazy to change their defense, to study their opponent's weaknesses and to adapte their defense to them. Good Players never set the same exact defense. And they constantly learn and practice different varieties of counters.
