Is F2P dying a slow death?

Am I the only F2P/Dolphin who feels like after a dozen or so Marque events that the game is slowly being built towards whales, thus leaving us long-dedicated F2Ps out in the cold watching the game pic...

It's not how this game works. I'm not f2p but not whale either, but today whales got their pass to brainless wins in ship arena. For me it marks the end of any kind of competition in area where there was any left.
And FYI: mechanics of character releases of any meta defining characters are scheduled so they become obsolete as soon as f2p has easy access to it. Hence single hard nodes for current meta characters like Nest, Scion, Nihilus.
They've put Bastilla on 2, which is an exception, but I think it's only admitting that like 20ish new roster additions over just few months is an overkill.
