That's where the 10% comes from. I believe upgrading gear tiers only changes protection/health. Gear is responsible for all other stats

Yes, because what people mean is that when you get to G10 you can add a scanner.

My Teebo is only gear 8 and 46.44 potency but I always clear p1 heroic rancor and usually get 15-20% of p2 as well. Just by running Teebo, qgj, phasma and wiggs.

Higher potency is really only needed for p3/4.

If you throw in TFP or Dengar, you hardly need any at all, especially if you play it right. Topple Rancor right away so he loses his Pit Fighter bonus, and debuffs will stick much easier. I can get ~5 million with Teebo, Rex, TFP, QGJ, and Phasma

Im working on my Rex, TFP and Dengar, but my current squad always clears p1 and I end up with 2.5-3m after my other teams. Not amazing but decent enough.

Admittedly it's nothing compared to the 10.5m zader teams but it does its job.

I'm not running any tenacity down toons yet (building Dengar & TFP right meow) plus my OCD goes crazy when I attack rancor with Teebo stealthed and he doesn't remove the TM.

He is right, at gear 10 you get a spot for a scanner (+10%). gear-levels alone add 2 str, agi and tac (former int) only and beginning at gear level 7 it also adds protection (no health, except the 36 health comming from the 2 str).
