Is the mace windu event busted?

So I've been trying to handle the first stage of the mace windu event and failing everytime despite following the best mod setup and watching videos on how to beat it. Apparently the borrowed companion is supposed to clear all buffs on the enemy squad with its aoe attack and allow me to attack the dog thing as seen in videos. However this doesn't work when I do it and this results in my team getting beaten. What's going on? I have tried multiple times thinking it's rng but this doesn't change the outcome.
