This is not the squish “all” K5 get demoted to Aurodium. Same as “all” A1 gets promoted and “all” A5 are demoted to Bronzium. To remain in Kyber you must end the season in K4 or higher. This occurs before squish.

Thanks for the help. Although, why wouldnt I drop to Aurodium 1, instead of 2?

It depends on how your skill rating compares to Aurodium. I don’t recall ever be demoted higher than A2 and I have had a few where I was 5 banners short of K4.

I got demoted from K5 to A3 once. I don't think I ever got demoted/promoted to K5/A1. Always, with the squish K4/A2-3.

So, there are a couple of things at play here.
- Top/bottom of a league are hard-walled. Which means you can't get promoted/demoted before the end of the season. However, you continue to gain/lose skill points. So, a lot of players end up with a Skill Point rating that is way different than the division they're actually playing.
- When you're promoted/demoted you then get squished towards division 3 before the season starts.
The weird thing here is if you were 11th placed in K5, how can you end up in A2 after squish. I mean who actually starts the season in A1 if this is the case?
So, this is my self-taught understanding of squish. I.e. I could be totally wrong.
Why do we have squish? The top and bottom of a league are hard-walled. This means you can travel freely between divisions, but once you get to the top/bottom of a league you stop, until the season finishes.
This means that by the end of the season the leagues would be egg cup/timer shaped, with players forced to stop when they hit the league change barrier.
To off-set this, we have 'squish'. Just before the season starts, after new leagues/divisions are worked out, all players are 'squished' towards the middle of the league. The top 2 divisions are squished down, the bottom 2 divisions are squished up.
This makes the league a bit more of a 'diamond' shape at the start, which will off-set it becoming too egg-cuppy by the end.
The major issue we had with the formula is that Kyber has more divisions being squished down, than up. This is because K1 isn't promoted and gets a positive squish, but stays in Kyber and receives a negative squish. So, Kyber has 1 extra division of negative squish, compared to the other leagues.
They have tried to tweak the formula and adjust things so that it balances......this somehow caused the weirdness of weak accounts appearing in K1. It might be something to do with the initial GP placing formula. Whatever it is, my hunch is that the formula not quite right yet.
