After ESB Luke is not a Jedi, although I'm not sure how hed be described at that point.
Anyway maybe that offers a glimmer of hope for a GL Vader and Luke to come.
Yoda is a massive hypocrite, he was grand master of the order before he even met a sith
yoda didn't say that to become a jedi one must face a sith
He said he had to face vader, who is a sith
Even if I'm being pedantic, that's a requirement he pulled out of nowhere, probably more of a philosophical statement than a factual one
I think It’s more like “you have to face your fears” than “you need to face a sith to become a jedi, even though the jedi order had for a long time lots of jedi masters that never faced one”
That's a better way of looking at it, fits better with the idea of jedi avoiding conflict
