I love the Star Wars community. We always give the writers and directors more credit than they deserve and make up imaginary plot lines to excuse their sloppy work. This episode started fairly strongly, but got worse and worse as it went on. My impression of the “chase” at the end was that I was watching fan fiction. And I see others have made the same comments. It was bad. As was the chase with Leia in EP 2. Whoever is directing these scenes is not good at their job. And the plot blunders are head scratching. I don’t think the writers are as smart as we’re trying to make them be. I think they just don’t know the source material very well and they aren’t good at putting a good story together. Like how does one of the strongest fighting Jedi alive lose his powers over the span of 10 years? He’s trained in them daily since he was a infant. He’s not old for a Jedi. So he just forgot? It’s a dumb plot line. And they’ve hung the entire first three episodes on it. Vader can drag Ben through fire once, but not a second time? It’s not because he wants to let him get away. It’s because the writer/director couldn’t figure out a reasonable way to let him escape. It’s sloppy and unimaginative
Interesting. What I see is a bunch of random people criticizing filmmakers, movie after show after movie, without knowing any of the process they went through to create that movie/show.
Why didn’t Vader pull the Falcon back as Luke escaped the Death Star? Why didn’t he lift Luke and carry him away when he fell at Bespin?
How would you feel if you were isolated on a desert planet for ten years, watching over the son of your dead best friend who betrayed you and forced you to kill him? Would you still have your faith (not that you need to have any now, but think about being a Jedi yourself)?
I can’t defend the action scenes. They are not very good.
