That probe is pretty weak as it should be(it can be made even weaker), but it requires to be a nuisance and distract attention. Remote can't taunt itself, plus, Bao-Dur himself do not attack with his primary.
Simply removing summoning from basic to special would hurt his viability and party's survivability.
But I'll think of possibility to replace summoning without hurting whole idea of his kit
