So, you're saying that because there was a counter to droids they were never META? Then we don't have a Zaul META now either, since it has a counter as well.

I suspect what most of you are complaining about is not zMaul but rather herd mentality among players. We always have these phases where there is a nice squad or character and everybody seems to jump on the bandwagon. Just wait a short while and the picture will soon shift to something else or people will discover a variety of other squads they like better.

For what it's worth, on my soft-launch shard the majority of top-twenty arena teams are now Rex leads - it was 16/20 when I was playing last night, and one of the other four is Nihilus lead - this change happened in the last two or three days and it suddenly spread yesterday. People will tend to follow the current fashion until they get more familiar with the options and make their own choice.

Leave it alone, it's all fine. No need to call for knee-jerk reactions to "fix" whatever you are seeing in arena at the moment. It is self-balancing as players will always migrate towards counters to the prevalent teams, sooner or later, and then to new formations nobody thought about before. The META always shifts and evolves, and it does not require any changes or new characters.

It reminds me there was a really strong bounty hunter team in my arena shard recently. Boba, Greedo, IG-88, Zam Wessel, Cad Bane. It totally destroyed my squad until I figured out the right approach. I bet very few of you have all those characters fully levelled, geared and modded, so you simply wouldn't know unless you had faced it. Was it better than my zMaul team in the end? Not quite, but it could easily have been and there are surely better possibilities out there still to discover.

How can you say there is a zMaul/sith META (or that there even is a META) when there are so many available characters and combinations and you haven't tried them? Most of us are lazy and/or cautious how we invest game resources, so we simply copy whatever arena team seems to be doing well to hold our ranking for a while without taking any risks. Luckily there are a few people who do experiment and think about squad options, and they discover great options for us to copy.

I'm almost certain that neither zMaul nor Rex squads are the best available in the game right now. Both of them are weak links in their respective typical squads. There are surely better choices and I can see that people are starting to experiment now with different ideas. And many of the players with zMaul/Rex squads are using them to hold in arena while they are preparing other, possibly better squads. Wait and see what comes next.

Actually (and sorry for the monologue), isn't this the real value of the krakens who play this game? They have the resources and time to try all these great squads so we can copy the best ones. You shouldn't complain that everyone else is just copying their successes, and you shouldn't assume that the squad you have now is META and there is nothing better that can (or will) be found.

The fact that there's almost as many Wedge leads in the top 100 as there is Mauls is a fact ignored by most it seems.

It's still not at the levels people in here are moaning about. Just because their shard is Maul heavy doesn't mean they all are. And looking at the numbers shows there is a counter to it.

Just under a quarter are running Rex, when can we expect daily threads complaining about that?

Yes. I wonder why not? Rex has been tops in arena for almost his entire existence. Beating on the meta of the day. Do u think rex will ever have a holiday? I'll let the forum know when I have him to gear 8. Should be about that time.

At least you can still fight. I find those perma-taunt Kenobi teams more frustrating, especially with QGJ/Yoda/Rex giving constant foresights and tenacity buffs. You get through eventually because the team collapses when one key guy dies, but are these teams more fun than facing zMaul? How about the Kenobi, zBarris, Chaze teams that heal more than you can hit? Is it fun when whatever you do you are just healing your opponent most of the time?

I don't know why zMaul teams are more annoying, unless you just don't have a strong enough team to put up a good fight. And if that's the case it is fine - you find your level in arena, and sometimes you have to drop 50 places for a while, but you adjust and it is just as much fun playing a bit lower down. Don't stress about arena rank, there will always be changes in META and you go up or down.
