I also work in a STEM field with a degree in Physics (only undergrad however so take everything I say with a grain of salt. I never claim to be too bright) and I'm old enough to remember a time well before the internet when everyone didn't feel the need to bring logic into an opinion conversation. I'm not listing facts here. I'm listing my opinion and as ill informed as it may seem it is in fact my opinion. You're spending the time to read it so joke's on you.
Your statement about it being an individual problem is both right and wrong. It is right in that I am addressing it as it affects me, however I am not the only one being affected here. Plenty of threads on the subject. A high reliance on JTR for the raid has destroyed a lot of guilds in an indirect way. Read the feedback thread. People are unhappy with the Sith raid. People that have some enjoyment doing it and can find a little motivation to do it are running Heroic. All others are grinding away for nothing. Now we all shouldn't be able to run Heroic off the bat and some never will. Not what I'm saying, but what do you think is a common thread among guilds that run and complete Heroic versus not being able to? Sure maybe some have a lot of whales and have maxed out all key teams, but I'll wager a fairly common theme is an abundance of JTR. Not fact, my opinion, but a decent guess. Sure there will be guilds that aren't made up like this, but I doubt many. Many people have the other teams needed or components of them, but JTR is a factor.
If the concern is the SIth raid is not being enjoyed and they don't want to change the dynamics of the raid then a way to address it is which characters are required and their availability. Else change how some of the raid works to make other teams more viable in some of the phases and I could care less if JTR ever graces my stable of toons.
As an aside anecdote I love skiing and I ski a lot. However there's many days I still can't make it out and sometimes it happens on powder days. I never begrduge someone a good ski day. If I'm not up I hope it dumps powder so my buddies can have a good time. The mentality of I had to be miserable grinding it out so you should too and it should never change in a game is always an interesting concept. It's a game. I mean if CG all of a sudden handed out CLS to all accounts for free why should I care. You're right that I'm concerned about me, but I'm pretty good at it and I'm never concerned about what someone else has or doesn't have when it doesn't affect me. You have your fun and I'll have mine. Problem is I'm not having fun with her, hence my post, opinion and comments and also why I'm not farming her. Also not having much fun with the raid and I see them as related as the raid stands. If CG changes the raid, but not her drop rate I'd be equally happy. Just trying to look at all avenues.
Also strangely, while I have not finished farming Death Trooper yet, and he is in fact in the same tier, I don't find him nearly as tedious or slow going. I don't recall many days where I've been blanked, though I'm sure there must be some, but not as many consecutive ones. I feel I'm usually getting about 2-4 a day. It's odd I feel this way about DT and not the vets. When JTR came out I didn't panic farm for her or feel a need to rush since it was pre-raid. So leaving statistics and probability aside it's a gut feeling I have. Doens't mean it's right, but I can't shake the feeling and hence why I have moved on from her long ago.
