CG said Levi was going to be the new "King of the meta" in fleets. When it was released it was full of bugs and problems that were clearly not intended. People that bought into CG's promise were upset that they didn't deliver on that promise. CG fixes Levi - delivers on promise.
And people are upset about this?
This is no different from every previous capital ship release ever - with the exception that some of them actually worked when they were released. This is how the meta changes. This is how the meta has always changed. There's nothing new going on.
Profundity still easily beats everything that came before it and sometimes, with the right strategy can beat the new shiny. Executor still easily beats everything that came before it and sometimes with the right RNG still beats Profundity. Malevolence still beats everything that came before it and sometimes with the right RNG and strategy beats Executor.
This is how it's always been. Other than SUPER annoying mirrors with Leviathan, I don't see a problem, nor a deviation from the norm here. Newer players shouldn't be expecting to have every possible counter available - that's the nature of being a newer player. You just aren't going to have the roster depth - but that's where people have to get creative and figure out alternatives. That's how new counters are discovered.
No one should be jumping into this game expecting to stay on the bleeding edge of the meta without either putting serious time into the game or serious money - or even both. When the meta shifts, the things that used to be great get down-graded to good, and things that used to be good get down-graded to OK, and so on. That's how it's always been. That's the nature of the game.
