I got DN to 7* and I got exactly zero shards above the standard 5 the entire time. That said, I did already calculate how much I was going to invest for the toon so the $ was already factored in, but I agree it's annoying that some of us got drop rates that were so abysmally low to the point nothing was above 5 shards per run.
That being said, it all depends on how you view value. I've already spent a decent amount of $ on this game, mostly on Sith/Empire toons, so getting DN made sense for me since there are synergies with a lot of my toons. I honestly wouldn't say DN is a game changer all around but he is fun to use and has been of good use for me in arena and GW. For me, I'm glad I chose DN over that Krennic citadel pack (meh).
