Lord Vader fanmade kit re-design

Since Lord Vader has been proven time and again to be completely and insultingly lackluster, I wanted to see if I could introduce potential means of changing his kit not too radically, but enough to maybe re-define his supposed strengths and offer a stronger viability with his current team composition. As such, my personal changes aren't going to be complete new abilities, but merely re-designing and re-balancing his existing ones, primarily his basic and specials.

Before the kit changes are shown, here's a small summary of the changes: Underestimated is now uncapped and has a stronger impact on each Ability, primarily with the Basic, which will be his main damaging source. Abilities have also been changed so the uncapped Underestimated doesn't become way too broken and re-introduced some of its mechanics to make them not dependant on Underestimated stacks.

Now, to the main kit. I will put it in a Spoiler because it is still the longest kit in this game.

Spoiler

LORD VADER
ROLES: Dark Side, Sith, Empire, Leader, Galactic Republic
DESCRIPTION: Legendary Sith Lord who utilizes the actions of others to empower his own potential and is not to be underestimated

(Basic) Vindictive Storm
Deal Physical damage to the target enemy which is increased by 0.5% per stack of Underestimated. If Lord Vader uses this Ability during his turn, deal damage twice.

Ashes of the Republic: Damage increase per stack of Underestimated increased to 1% and deals damage again.

(Special) Dark Harbinger (2 turn CD)
Inflict Buff Immunity and Healing Immunity for 2 turns and Deal Physical damage to the target enemy. This Ability deals 15% more damage on subsequent uses (stacking, max +150%).

Lord Vader gains 15% Ultimate Charge and an additional +5% per subsequent use (stacking, max +60%) and all Empire and Dark Side Unaligned Force Users recover 0.5% Health and Protection per stack of Underestimated, up to 35%.

Ashes of the Republic: This Attack deals bonus True Damage.

(Special) Unshackled Emotion (5 turn CD)
Deal Physical damage to all enemies and inflict Daze and 4 Damage over Time effects for 2 turns which cannot be resisted. For each stack of Underestimated, all Dark Side allies gain +1% Mastery (stacking) until the end of the Encounter and for each 10 stacks of Underestimated, inflict an additional Damage over Time effect for 2 turns.

Ashes of the Republic: Inflict Ability Block for 1 turn which cannot be resisted or dispelled and increase the target enemy's cooldowns by 2.

(Leader) My New Empire
Dark Side allies have +20 Speed, +20% Mastery, and +15% Max Health, doubled for Empire or Dark Side Unaligned Force User allies.

At the start of battle, other Empire and Dark Side Unaligned Force User allies lose all Protection and gain that much Max Health. If a Dark Side Unaligned Force User ally was present at the start of battle, for the rest of the battle all Empire or Dark Side Unaligned Force User allies take 30% reduced damage from enemy Light Side Unaligned Force User attacks. If all allies are Dark Side at the start of battle, Empire and Dark Side Unaligned Force User allies are immune to Fear, Empire Tanks gain Taunt for 2 turns, and when an Empire ally loses Taunt, they are inflicted with Marked for 1 turn, which can't be dispelled, prevented, or resisted.

Whenever a Dark Side ally loses a buff, Empire and Dark Side Unaligned Force User allies gain 1% Mastery (stacking) until the end of encounter. Whenever a debuffed Dark Side ally takes damage, Lord Vader gains 2% Ultimate Charge, increased to 3% if that ally was an Unaligned Force User.

Empire and Dark Side Unaligned Force User allies have +35% Critical Chance and Critical Damage when targeting a Galactic Republic enemy. Whenever an enemy critically hits an Empire or Dark Side Unaligned Force User ally, that enemy has -30% Critical Damage (stacking) for 3 turns.

While Empire and Dark Side Unaligned Force User allies are at certain Health thresholds, they gain different benefits:

- While above 35% Health: During an enemy's attack they are immune to Max Health reduction and other damage that is based on Max Health.
- While above 50% Health: They are immune to Damage Over Time and Thermal Detonator effects.
- While below 80% Health: Can't be critically hit.

(Unique) Twisted Prophecy
Lord Vader is immune to Turn Meter manipulation and his attacks cannot be evaded. At the start of battle he loses all Protection and gains that much Max Health, and Dark Side Unaligned Force User allies gain Speed Up and Stealth for 2 turns.

At the start of each of Lord Vader's turns, enemies are inflicted with 2 Damage Over Time effects for 2 turns, which can't be resisted. Enemies with Damage Over Time effects can't gain bonus Turn Meter.

At the start of each other character's turn Lord Vader gains 1 stack of Underestimated, doubled for Galactic Republic and Jedi enemies.

Underestimated: Vindictive Storm, Dark Harbinger, and Unshackled Emotions gain additional effects.

The leader, the Galactic Legend unique and the Ultimate were not changed at all. The leader was included none the less because I felt weird leaving it out.

What do you all think? If Lord Vader was changed into this, would he be better without being too broken or is this too unbalanced for you? Please leave your unfiltered thoughts

  • If you are going to suggest a kit touch-up on a current character, it helps if you put the changes in Bold or Italics. Otherwise it’s hard to spot the difference without a side by side look at the current in-game kit.

Will do, but I generally assume everyone knows the kits in and out by now and can compare by memory. At least the usual people who lurk this part of the forum do.
  • The newer kits, especially GLs, read like essays. Plus even CG always does it when they release Touch-Ups or Reworks for characters.

true. Imma edit it real quick to highlight it
  • I don't love the +15% stacking damage on the first special.

I think I would prefer if you only get the +15% damage if the attack damages a GR or Jedi enemy (same maximum). This permits some counters, but makes him tougher against his chosen enemies.

I would still like to tinker with it though, because as much as I know people want to have LV be the most powerful toon in the game, for me, thematically, I want LV to get his patootie kicked by JMK. At the very least JMK should still win handily on offense. I would need to check to make sure this is still true after your changes.

But I do applaud the work.
