I agree. I've always felt that Luke, while definitely very strong in the Force, was most likely a very mediocre duelist. Vader was trying not to kill him, I think.
If he'd ever had to go up against a surviving Clone War era, Temple trained, properly mentored Jedi...who wanted him, unthinkably, dead. Like Ahsoka or someone for example, pretty sure she'd mop the floor with Luke.
