I think to go back to the face thing, that it was basically a scan and only people that were in the system could use it, which means that Din has history with the Empire and maybe is in the system for doing something bad or good.
but even at our current level of tech we scan a face and have a "yes" and "no" check. not sure why they dont have a data base of those at that facility and only allow access for them......... but hey, its just good TV.
to me this whole thing just felt like a way to force him to take his helmet off, in some "reasonable" way and this will all have implications down the line.
