Who's not listening to what? If you want Maul and you can't beat the Proving Grounds battle, the thing to do is work on fixing that - then you can more easily get Maul shards. CG has gone out of their way to make Conquest characters difficult to attain. Sure, it would be nice if they were easier to get, and perhaps they will be some time in the future, but as it stands now they WANT these characters to be out of reach for newer accounts.
I have guild mates that need CAT and Maul and other Conquest characters, but CG is guarding these characters so closely that I can't even enter the proving grounds battles to help my friends come up with a strategy for beating them.
That is what it is. Your best bet is to find a guide online and work on gearing a team that is proven to work. Chances are it would be a team that you'd need for something else anyway, so aside from the Maul shards, you'll get some other benefits from doing so as well.
