The battle pass is purely a way for them to make money. There won't be a FTP version ever. Or you could look at it as: there has always been a FTP version up to now. And that same version remains FTP.

In case you were thinking the only way to get rewards in conquest is with a pass: that is not the case. It appears you will be able to earn the same prize boxes etc as last time with no pass purchase.

It is stated as an additional reward track. Not the only reward track.
