And gearing and leveling? Cantina farm to get to 7 stars would require 2-3 weeks with 2 refreshes. How is a f2p or minnow supposed to get there?

right...pay to stay relevant. By the time the event comes back again, I will be at least 3-4 months behind and nowhere in PvP because Commander Luke/Rebels will dominate.
