Credits are going to be a nasty crunch at least up until you have 3M gp, and will probably be some kind of "crunch" (though not a nasty one) for longer than that. It wasn't until I had 5m gp that I really stopped worrying about credits.
Now, keep in mind that I could have stopped "worrying" about credits sooner if I just stopped buying mods, but that wasn't going to happen because it's important.
If I were you, though, I'd think seriously about the fact that you may have way too many mods. Purchasing mods for credits is horribly expensive, BUT if you limit yourself to buying only what you really need, then you can save yourself tons of credits that you would otherwise spend upgrading junk mods just to find out that they are junk.
Different players play differently, and there are reasonable objections to my own strategy but if I were in your shoes again, I would ONLY farm mod upgrade materials and not mods. You'll get some mods from events and the rest you buy from the Store for credits. Expensive, sure, but cheaper than spending 150k on a green mod just to discover its secondaries, find out they aren't he secondaries you want, and throw it out. Every credit spent on a store-bought mod is spent on a mod you actually need and want.
And, yes, depending on your play style, the mod cap can be very annoying. But go ahead and actually mod all the toons you have leveled up past level 60, then make sure that you junk mods that you replace with better ones.
Combined with the new toons you'll be getting, that should open up enough spaces that you won't be bumping up against the limit nearly as often.
