There’s an even simpler solution though: manage your mods.

If they increase the cap, you and others who don’t manage their mods will be back next year complaining that it needs increased again.

At least we'd have five blessed months without the same thread repeated every week.

Do you take the time to open and comment on the same thread that annoys you every week? Because that seems weird.
