If you mean "autistic" then you should apologize for comparing yourself to someone with autism.
You realize autism is a spectrum and there are probably more of us that are high functioning but on the spectrum than most realize. My brother and I have long suspected we are on the autism spectrum due to our OCD, noise sensitivity, and general unease around people. Someone saying they're autistic doesn't mean they're downplaying others with more advanced autism. But also respect that he or she may also feel they're on the spectrum.
I am quite aware of the spectrum, having a daughter on it with an official diagnosis.
I find it very unlikely this person is on the spectrum. Not impossible, mind you, but it's far more likely that this person is using a very inappropriate analogy.
True.. misspelling autistic is odd for someone with autism. They/we (if I do happen to be on the spectrum undiagnosed) tend to be fairly precise and particular.
